Count to 10 in Order

What students learn

Students learn to say the numbers from 1 to 10 without skipping or mixing them up. They hear how the count starts at one and keeps moving forward. Open with so the lesson begins cleanly.

Why it matters

When children know the count in order, they can match quantities, compare amounts, and follow future math lessons more easily. The sequence is the backbone of early number work. gives them a middle stretch to practice the pattern.

Learn the idea

Say the numbers with the child: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. Then replay and ask them to say the numbers aloud with the song. When they are ready, use for a full review.

Try it

Point to a line of 10 stickers, blocks, or cups. Ask the child to touch each one and count in order. If they pause, give the next number softly and let them finish the list. A final replay of the song helps the child hear the full sequence one more time.

Parent guide

Make the practice cheerful and repeatable. A short count every day works better than one long session. If the child forgets a number, model the sequence slowly and have them repeat just the tricky part before trying the whole count again.
