Deliver a Short Persuasive Speech
What students learn
Students learn how to open a speech clearly, support the idea with details, and close with confidence. Begin with so the audience hears the main point right away.
Why it matters
A persuasive speech is easier to follow when the speaker gives reasons in order. shows how a speaker can support the claim without wandering.
Learn the idea
The ending should sound calm and finished, not rushed. shows how to leave the audience with a clear final thought.
Try it
Have the student prepare a one-minute speech about a school issue or favorite activity. Ask them to begin with a clear claim, give two supporting reasons, and end with one sentence that repeats the main idea.
Parent guide
Encourage short practice runs with a simple outline. Remind the student to speak slowly, look up, and pause between ideas. If they sound flat or rushed, have them try again with a stronger opening sentence and a slower ending.
