Seasons and Temperature
Students learn the four seasons and notice how temperature and cold-weather changes help describe each one.
Seasons and Temperature
What students learn
Students learn the four seasons and notice how temperature changes the way each season feels. Begin with so students can hear the season names in order.
Why it matters
When students know the seasons, they can talk about weather, clothing, and outdoor activities more clearly. Use to connect cold weather with body reactions.
Learn the idea
Temperature tells us whether the air feels hotter or colder. Watch to see how cold weather can leave a sign on the ground or on cars and grass.
Try it
Sort four paper squares or drawings into winter, spring, summer, and fall. Then ask the student to say which season feels hottest, which feels coldest, and what clothing fits each one.
Parent guide
Use the weather outside, the calendar, and the child's own experiences. Ask them what they wear in different seasons and why. If they confuse weather with seasons, gently explain that weather is what happens today, while seasons are bigger patterns across the year.
