Sight and Hearing
What students learn
Students learn that eyes help with sight and ears help with hearing.
Why it matters
Sight and hearing help children stay aware of what is around them. They use these senses to notice colors, shapes, voices, music, and sounds that may be far away or very close.
Learn the idea
Use to show how eyes help children notice what they can see. Then follow with to practice naming things that eyes can find. After that, move to and so the learner can compare loud, soft, and careful listening.
Try it
Look around the room and name three things you can see. Then close your eyes and listen for three sounds you can hear.
Parent guide
If the child rushes, slow the activity down. Ask them to describe one thing they see or hear before moving to the next item.
