Students learn the names of the five senses and the body parts that use them.

Why it matters

When children know the five senses, they can talk about the world in a clearer way. They can say what they see, hear, smell, taste, and touch instead of only saying something feels nice or looks fun.

Learn the idea

Start with Five Senses Song: Name the Five Senses and Five Senses Song: Point to the Body Parts so the learner can hear the names and match them to real body parts. Then use Five Senses Song: Repeat the Pattern and Five Senses Song: Listen to All Five Again to repeat the idea in a second voice and a second rhythm.

Try it

Ask the child to point to their eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and hands. Then say one sense at a time and let them point to the matching body part.
