Learn the idea

If 3 x 4 = 12, then 12 / 3 = 4 and 12 / 4 = 3. Students can use a multiplication fact they know to solve a division fact they do not know yet. Division Facts Can Use Known Multiplication gives that shortcut in action.

Try it

Write the fact family for 2, 5, and 10, then for 3, 4, and 12. Ask the student to say the multiplication facts first and then the matching division facts.
