A Grade 3 science course about landforms, bodies of water, weathering and erosion, and caring for local environments.
Landforms, Water, and Environment
Course overview
This course teaches Grade 3 students how to name landforms and bodies of water, explain how weathering and erosion change Earth, and describe ways to care for local environments. The lessons build from identifying land and water features to understanding how people can protect the places where they live.
What students will learn
- Name common landforms and bodies of water.
- Compare mountains, valleys, rivers, lakes, oceans, and other surface features.
- Explain the difference between weathering and erosion.
- Describe how wind and water change land over time.
- Choose simple actions that reduce waste and support a cleaner environment.
Lessons
- Landforms and Bodies of Water - Learn the words for major features on Earth's surface.
- Weathering and Erosion - See how rocks break down and how material moves.
- Caring for Local Environments - Practice habits that keep neighborhoods and shared spaces cleaner.
Parent guide
Use maps, pictures, sidewalks, parks, and neighborhood examples to make the ideas concrete. Keep the conversations short and observable: name what the child sees, then ask how it changes or how people can care for it.
Completion
A student finishes this course when they can name major landforms and bodies of water, explain weathering and erosion in simple terms, and describe one way to care for a local environment.
